He's an extremely ignorant and rude man..I'm old in comparison to some of the ladies on here, but even I get men ask me for my picture..It does make you wonder why they're here in the first place..I make a point of not showing my pic..It's irrelevant..This site isn't a dating agency!

I got to admit i am afraid to comment 'cause I know i am often perceived as old even though I am probably Younger at Heart than any other TIGger.
The way I see it "Volunteering," nor any one else has the right to cuss you or any one else for what ever reason. Yes TIG is based on Freedom of Speach but that does not mean Freedom to Hate and Abuse.
Erin, you have several options. On his last IM you can click Ignore or Report. You can go to Edit Profile, then Friends, then you can Delite your Link from his Friends List.
Or as Olga mentioned you can start a Kangaroo Court through a Discussion Thread, discuss him, try him, and deside on a set of actions and then follow through.

Ladies i didn't know all this happened on TIG, maybe the TIG moderators would do you some good if they did some more filtering, but i guess in all cases/situations they can't rid of all the bad elements.

By the by, such things are abusing not only for Ms. Daymon's and our (female) dignity, but they are against the goal of the TIG site in general! Curses should be somehow filtered from the messages by means of some device (sorry, I'm no IT consultant :). People of TIG and TIG stuff, what are you waiting for? Maybe, you'll do something with cursing maniacs and people who send pornographic materials via TIG Messenger?

I'm glad that you got the conversation going, and I am glad that TIG staff are on it. I think that this has been a problem on TIG for years, but as women we are so used to being sexually harassed on the internet that we just brush it off. It is so important that we voice our concerns if we really want to make change. In the case that I listed on my blog, age was a big factor. Men of many ages are using this site as a connection portal for talking to ladies. That's not what us ladies are necessarily here for, not to say that these types of connections can't happen on TIG, but that TIG should be a site primarily focuses on youth leadership. Censoring members is always a hot topic, but for sure perpetrators should be banned and pointed out!

I have contacted the TIG member who sent the offensive message, he has been suspended for violating the terms of service and TIG staff will continue to monitor this member in the future. These situations are unfortunate and upsetting, but I suggest removing any personal e-mail contacts from your public TIG profiles, and using the Ignore Member option in TIG Messenger. You can always contact us for further information or to voice concerns, at: memberservice@takingitglobal.org. We will do our best to deal with these situations as quickly as possible.

If I chose to just put him on ignore, he would have sexually harassed many other girls here. I think, exposing such people in public is a more effective way of dealing with them.
Since this scandal, I am not getting any messages from stupid people.

I believe exposure is the only way..otherwise they are getting away with it time and time again..and it's very distressing :(

let me excuse for all male members of TIG for this - hopefully exceptional - exemplar of our gender here in TIG.
I don´t know the whole conversation you had with him, but after i read his reply i got to say that this is not the way he should discus or answer any kind of theme here.
In germany we got a saying: " A hitten dog barks"
It means what ever you tell someone, ... if you are right he will get rude!

Dear Andy!
It's very nice of you to excuse on behalf of all male members, but the problem is not in the gender (though maybe men aren't controlling their "style" of speech enough ;). I'm convinced that there are female and other members who abused, abuse or can abuse people around orally and in writing. It's good that this "Volunteering" is suspended (however, he can appear again under another name, esp. if people "can remember" the same style in other messages) and that the staff is going to monitor other members.
And here I'd like to excuse on behalf female TIG members who might express their opinions in such a way that male members started to feel some collective gender guilt!
Guys, you are not discriminated and always welcome with friendly intentions and courteous "language" manners!

Dear TIG Staff!
The Ignore Member option in TIG Messenger doesn't work as effective as some members hope.
Some time ago I was "contacted" by a very "original" poet who was trying to inculcate in me a taste for pornographic poetry. I "ignored" him twice, but after the second try he added me impudently into his friendslist. I had to contact my friend from the TIG Staff to stop it.
So differed buttons aren't pushed with the same result (sometimes) :)

@ Olga: Hi! The "ignore member" feature was broken for a while, but is now fixed. All the ignore member feature does is stop the ignored member from messaging you on the site. It does not prevent them from commenting on your blogs, artwork, etc and they can still add you as a friend etc. However, what you CAN do is remove yourself from their friendlist. You can do this by going to "edit profile" in the top right of the TIG homepage and then going to the "friends" tab. In the bottom list, you can click "remove me" and it will remove you from their friends list.
@ Everyone: We at TIG try very hard to monitor the actions on the site as much as possible but with a massive amount of content coming in every day, it is often difficult to catch everything. If you EVER have any concerns or questions regarding a member, you can always contact us directly at memberservices@takingitglobal.org (that's with an "s" at the end of services) and we will work with you and take the appropriate action.

just some more points
what abuse of technology!, lots of people in this world are starving, they even don't understand when we say "email" and "internet", and on the other side some people have abundant resource either knowledge and materials, but some of them so abusive in using that means. let's be thankful for what we have and use them in a proper way (he he he, I'm sorry I don't mean to preach but I just want to share my thoughts :) )
